Fellowship and Faith

Format: Discussion

Description: This class is made up of mostly married couples with kids ranging in age from 5 to 25 years old. 

 

Testament Journeys

Format: Bible study or other book studies agreed upon by the class

Description:  We study the scripture and compare it to other verses from the Old and New Testaments to help better understand the verses we are studying. We use maps and other translations to support and clarify the scripture lesson. Class participation is encouraged which can include doing their own research and developing resources. A wide range of ages in our class complement the lesson and helps everyone to gain a better understanding of what the Bible is saying to us.

 

The Guide to Biblical Studies

Format: Discussion

Description: This class studies curriculum that is published by the Church of the Brethren. The members of the class each receive a book and there is a small devotion each day leading up to the lesson on Sunday. The class is taught each week by one of its members.

 

Truth Seekers II

Format: Discussion and video

Description: This is a multi-generational group that meets in the Fellowship Hall. Members explore such topics as prayer and forgiveness using the works of popular Christian authors like Max Lucado and Philip Yancey. 

 

Bible Life Today

Format: Discussion

Description: The Bible Life Today class is made up of a wide age range of people from different backgrounds. The class studies various books of the Bible verse by verse and discusses how these Scriptures can be applied to our lives today.

 

Women’s Fellowship

The Women’s Fellowship group meets on the first Wednesday morning of each month. They work on a variety of projects such as quilting, making lap blankets for shut-ins, sewing baby blankets, and assembling health and school kits that are distributed through Church World Service. They sponsor various themed carry-in lunches following the worship service throughout the year and plan the All Daughter’s Banquet which occurs annually. The Women’s Fellowship also organizes a group called Prayer Sisters in which members secretly trade names annually and encourage their secret prayer sister with small tokens, cards, and prayers throughout the year.

 

Men’s Fellowship

The Men’s Fellowship meets several times throughout the year. Every summer they sponsor a church picnic. They also sponsor the All Son’s Banquet each year.

 

 

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is a group of people who enjoy singing and bringing a message to our congregation and community. They practice on Wednesday evenings between September and May. They sing various styles of music from traditional hymns to more contemporary arrangements. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome whether you can carry a tune or not.

 

 

 

 

 

Ring and a Prayer Bell Choir

The Ring and a Prayer bell choir is a musical group that enjoys playing hand bells together. They meet Wednesday nights between September and May to practice; each month, they share their music with the congregation as part of the worship service. Prior experience playing hand bells is not a requirement—nor is reading music! If you have an interest in playing hand bells, please join them for practice!

 

Notes of Praise

The Notes of Praise Band is an instrumental ensemble that plays as part of the worship service throughout the year. The group consists of woodwinds, brass, string, keyboard, and percussion instruments. Come join the group and make a joyful noise!

 

 

 

 

 

Agape Acres Bible Study

The Agape Acres Bible Study meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. They meet in the main room of the apartment complex at Agape Acres, 952 State Route 511, Ashland. Meetings begin at 3:30 pm and study a wide range of subjects from the Bible. This study is open to anyone interested in joining, regardless of age.
